Thanks to a grant that was awarded to Cawley Middle School (on behalf of Suzie, Vince, and Amy), the school has 12 PDAs. Here is some info about the new pieces of equipment…
What are PDAs?
- They are basically handheld computers.
What can they do?
- You can use them for Word Processing (MS Word)
- You can use them to create presentations (MS PowerPoint)
- You can use them to create spreadsheets (MS Excel)
When students use them…what’s next?
- After the students create the documents, they can upload the documents to a regular computer to finish editing the documents and then print them.
Why use them?
- Great tool to get a project started when the computer lab is not available
- You can work on a technology project right from the comfort of your own classroom
For more information or lesson ideas with the PDAs, check out the CMS Technology Portaportal.
If you are interested using them, please contact Amy, Vince, or Suzie.

Cawley now has 3 iPods. Along with the 3 iPods, we have 3 iTalks. The iTalk is a device that allows you to record your own voice. To borrow them, please talk to Amy, Carla, and/or Vince.
What can you do with the iPods/iTalks?
- Have students listed to Audiobooks
- Have students create their own audiobooks
- Have students watch video podcasts that you download from iTunes
- Record an audio file of your lectures for students to use as a review or for students who were absent
- Record an audio file of your team meetings for faculty members who can not make it to the meeting
If you have your own idea, we would love to hear about it! Post a comment!
